Labiaplasty FAQs

Labiaplasty can be performed under local anaesthesia with oral sedation or under general anaesthesia. The trim procedure, involving the removal of excess tissue with direct suturing, is the most common type of labiaplasty. The wedge or linear excision, maintaining a natural border after removing a pie-shaped piece of tissue, is also popular. Your Auralia surgeon might use a scalpel or a CO2 laser for the cutting part of the procedure.

The incision(s) for the labia reduction are relatively small and will leave minimal, perhaps undetectable, scars.

This will depend on the patient’s desires and needs. Because the labiaplasty reduces the size of the labia minora, the clitoral hood might look proportionally bigger than expected, so it is sometimes advisable to have a clitoral hood reduction with the labiaplasty. This of course depends on each patient as everyone is unique and has different preferences.

2 WEEKS PRE-OPERATIVELY
Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs like Brufen and Volterol, Vitamin E supplements, and smoking to reduce bleeding risks.

1 WEEK BEFORE YOUR OPERATION
It is advisable to take 1 gm vitamin C twice a day to improve wound healing.

DAY BEFORE THE SURGERY
If your surgery is planned for the morning it is wise to have a shower the night before using a medicated shower gel/body scrub (e.g. hibiscrub or hydrex) and wash ones hair. Nail polish should be removed prior to surgery for the anaesthetic

THE DAY OF SURGERY
Dress in loose clothing with a shirt and zip-up top and/or cardigan (as opposed to a pullover) as lifting ones arms may be sore initially after surgery. Also pack the sports bra to wear after surgery along with usual toiletries for overnight stay.

The cost of labiaplasty varies depending on individual needs, the complexity of the procedure, and the personalized care plan created during your consultation. At our clinic, we prioritize transparency and tailor every treatment to ensure optimal results and patient comfort. To provide an accurate estimate, we invite you to schedule a confidential consultation with our expert surgeons. During this private discussion, we’ll review your goals, explain the process, and provide a detailed breakdown of costs, including any financing options available.

This will depend on exactly what you’re having done. A labiaplasty can take anywhere between 1 – 1.5 hrs depending on whether it is only a labiaplasty or if it’s coupled
with a clitoral hood reduction.

Immediately after a labiaplasty, a woman may experience mild and temporary swelling or discomfort, symptoms that usually subside completely after one or two weeks. A patient may return to a non-strenuous job within five to seven days, and she may be able to resume intercourse within about six weeks, depending on the specific circumstances of her Surgery.

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, so you won’t feel pain. Mild discomfort may occur during recovery but is easily managed with pain relief medications.

Yes, but they probably won’t be noticeable. Your doctor will make every effort to keep incisions as minimal as possible and try to hide them in the natural lines and creases of your skin. The scars will fade over time and become barely noticeable.

All surgeries, including cosmetic surgery, carry some amount of risk, and these include the chance of infection, scarring and pain. You will have a chance to talk frankly with your Auralia surgeon about any worries you might have, and any possible risks, will be clearly communicated with you before you make any decisions. You’ll also be given a copy of everything in writing, so you can take them home and go through them at your own pace. We’re also here for you if you have any questions.

Yes, the results of labiaplasty are long-lasting, though natural aging may cause slight changes over time.

You should refrain from engaging in sexual activity or using tampons for a minimum of one month following the surgery. Your Auralia surgeon will provide personalised
advice based on the progress of the healing process and the presence of any postoperative complications. Assuming a smooth recovery, resuming intercourse is generally advisable after this one-month period.

No, our precise surgical techniques ensure nerve preservation, maintaining sensation and sexual function.

Undergoing surgery on your labia typically does not have an impact on childbirth. If the size and shape of your labia are causing physical and emotional distress, labiaplasty can be a helpful solution. It's essential to be aware, though, that the
appearance of your modified labia may be affected by pregnancy and childbirth.

Yes, labiaplasty is a safe and appropriate procedure for patients regardless of their sexual history. The surgery focuses on reshaping or reducing the labia minora (inner lips) and/or labia majora (outer lips) to address discomfort or aesthetic concerns. Importantly, the procedure does not involve or affect the hymen, which is a separate structure. So virginity is unrelated to anatomical eligibility for labiaplasty.

If your work does not involve any sort of strenuous physical activity you can return to work within a few days.
