About Laser Resurfacing Treatment
The procedure uses a laser to send out brief pulses of high-energy light deep into the layers of your skin. This light energy is absorbed by water and substances in the skin called chromophores, then chromophores, then changed into heat energy, and the heat then destroys thin sections of skin, layer by layer. As the wounded area heals, new skin grows to replace the damaged skin giving you a more even complexion.
Laser Resurfacing Treatment FAQs
The new erbium: YAG laser has a healing time measured in days, not weeks or months, as in the case of the old CO2, and there is little chance of pigmentation loss. Your Doctor will advise if there is anything you need to avoid following treatment such as make up, extensive sun or heat exposure.
As with all treatments, please consider planning social events around treatments. Any potential complications will be discussed during consultation, and you will be given a copy in writing.
Prior to treatment, your consultant will numb the area using local anaesthetic to ensure minimal discomfort throughout.
You may need to take some time out initially while your skin is healing. Your doctor will advise you on the strength of your treatment during your consultation and whether you need to take a few days off.
