Neck Lift Surgery Process
Step 1: Incisions
Small, carefully placed incisions are made behind the ears and, in some cases, under the chin. These locations allow scars to be discreetly hidden within natural creases and the hairline.
Step 2: Muscle Tightening
The underlying neck muscles (platysma) are tightened and repositioned to reduce neck bands and restore a smoother, firmer neck contour.
Step 3: Fat Removal or Repositioning
Excess fat beneath the chin and along the neck is removed or sculpted, often using liposuction, to improve definition and eliminate fullness.
Step 4: Skin Redraping
The skin is gently redraped over the newly contoured neck, excess skin is removed, and the incisions are closed with fine sutures for optimal healing and minimal scarring.
This procedure is fully customised to your own needs and goals.

Neck Lift Surgery FAQs
Neck lift surgery, also called Platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck by tightening loose skin, correcting muscle laxity, and removing excess fat. It treats common signs of ageing such as sagging skin, visible neck bands, excess fullness under the chin, and loss of jawline definition. A neck lift focuses specifically on the neck and jawline area and is ideal when these concerns cannot be improved with non-surgical treatments.
Neck Lift surgery price at Auralia starts from €180/month.
We offer flexible plans to suit every budget. Our financing plans makes you able to spread your procedure cost over 36 monthly payments.

A neck lift focuses solely on the neck and jawline, improving loose skin, muscle bands, and excess fat in this area. A facelift, on the other hand, addresses sagging and ageing in the mid-to-lower face, including jowls and deep facial folds. While the two procedures treat different areas, they are often combined to achieve a balanced and harmonious rejuvenation of the face and neck.
You may benefit from a neck lift if you are bothered by loose or sagging neck skin, prominent neck bands, or fullness under the chin that does not improve with weight loss or non-surgical treatments. If your face still looks youthful but your neck appears aged or undefined, a neck lift alone may be appropriate. A consultation with a surgeon is the best way to determine whether a neck lift, another procedure, or a combination of treatments is right for you.
Neck lift results are long-lasting. While the natural ageing process continues, most patients enjoy significant improvement for many years. Maintaining a stable weight, protecting your skin from sun damage, and following a healthy lifestyle can help preserve your results over time.
When performed using modern techniques, a neck lift will look natural and refined. The goal is to restore definition and smoothness without making the neck appear tight or unnatural. By addressing the deeper muscle layer and carefully redraping the skin, your surgeon aims for results that enhance your appearance while still looking like you.
Yes. By tightening loose skin, correcting muscle laxity, and removing excess fat, a neck lift can significantly improve jawline definition. This often results in a sharper, more youthful profile and better separation between the face and neck.
Yes. A neck lift is one of the most effective treatments for a “turkey neck,” which is caused by excess loose skin and muscle laxity. The procedure removes excess skin and tightens the underlying muscles to create a smoother, firmer neck contour.
Initial recovery typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks. Swelling and bruising are most noticeable in the first one to two weeks and then gradually improve. While many patients feel comfortable socially after a few weeks, full healing and scar maturation continue over several months.
Most patients return to desk-based or light work within 10 to 14 days, depending on the extent of the surgery and how quickly swelling and bruising resolve. Jobs that involve physical activity or prolonged standing may require a longer recovery period.
As Terry Prones quoted during her interview with the Irish Examiner, : "people who didn’t know anything about the surgery told me, unprompted, that I looked refreshed."
Light activities such as gentle walking can usually be resumed after about 1 to 2 weeks. Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and high-impact workouts are typically avoided for 4 to 6 weeks to allow proper healing. Your surgeon will give personalised guidance based on your recovery progress.
Neck lift surgery is generally safe when performed by an experienced surgeon in an accredited hospital setting. Careful patient selection, thorough pre-operative assessment, and adherence to aftercare instructions all help minimise risks and support a smooth recovery.
As with any surgery, neck lift surgery carries some risks. These may include infection, bleeding, fluid collection, scarring, asymmetry, numbness or changes in sensation, and delayed wound healing. Rare complications can include nerve injury or issues related to anaesthesia. Your surgeon will discuss all potential risks in detail during your consultation.
Neck lift surgery does involve scars, but they are well concealed behind the ears, along the hairline, or under the chin. Over time, scars typically fade and become less noticeable. Proper scar care and following your surgeon’s advice can help achieve the best possible healing.
There are several types of neck lift procedures, including traditional neck lift, mini neck lift, platysmaplasty (muscle tightening), submental neck lift (under the chin), and neck lift combined with liposuction. The most suitable technique depends on the degree of skin laxity, muscle involvement, and fat distribution.
Yes. A neck lift is commonly combined with a facelift when ageing affects both the face and neck. Treating both areas together often produces a more balanced and natural-looking result and allows for a single recovery period.
Yes. Chin or submental liposuction is frequently combined with a neck lift to remove excess fat and further enhance neck and jawline definition. This combination can be particularly effective for patients with both loose skin and stubborn fat deposits under the chin.
